Detailed Project Report For Phase 2 Expansion Of Dhamra Port

The first phase of Dhamra Port consists of two deep draft berths, navigating channel with turning circle, a fully mechanized iron ore loading plant, a fully mechanized coal/ limestone unloading plant, a rapid loading system and an exclusive 62 km rail link with Indian railway network.

M/s HOWE India Pvt Ltd. (HOWE) was appointed as Consultants for preparing a Master Plan of the port for future development and a Detailed Project Report for the phase 2 expansion. HOWE carried out detailed assessment of site characteristics, audit of phase 1 port facilities and their capacity assessment, additional port facilities requirement to meet the projected throughput. HOWE prepared an implementation plan to expand Dhamra Port from the existing 2 berths of dry bulk cargo to 13 berths capable of handling more than 100 MTPA of dry bulk, break bulk, liquid bulk, containerized and general cargo, One exclusive berth each for liquid cargo and LNG.

HOWE prepared detailed development plans and carried out Basic engineering and cost estimates of all the proposed port facilities comprising of:

  • 7 bulk berths for iron ore and coal alongwith complete mechanised handling system, storage and evacuation systems with stacker, reclaimer, rapid loading stations, track hoppers, wagon tipplers and other connected infrastructure.
  • A container terminal with 7000 m long quay, associated equipment and onshore facilities
  • An LNG terminal with onshore storage
  • A crude oil/ POL terminal with tankfarms.
  • Breakbulk berths with associated infrastructure
