Feasibility Study For Berthing Bigger Capacity Vessels At Sikka Jetty In Sikka Creek, Gujarat

HOWE has been retained to prepare a Feasibility Report for Berthing of Bigger Capacity Vessels at the Existing at Sikka Jetty. The study is necessitated to bring bigger capacity ships of 175 M LOA with 8.5 M drafts due to increase in production capacity of the GSFC Plant at Sikka. Since the jetty is located in the Tidal Creek, manoeuvring and berthing of bigger ships at the jetty needs site-specific study.

The Scope of Work broadly comprises:

• Examine the existing arrangement of the jetty
• Determine the structural capacity and integrity of the breasting and mooring dolphins.
• Compare with the requirements for berthing of larger vessels (vessel sizes as given by GSFC) including dredge depth.
• In case the existing jetty is insufficient to accommodate the larger vessels, study feasible alternatives for strengthening the jetty.
• Work out cost estimates.
• Compile the findings in the form of a Feasibility Report.

HOWE Engineer visited the site during arrival and berthing of the vessel and discussed with the Pilot and GSFC Engineers.
