Dhamra Port Expansion

Dhamra Port Company Limited (DPCL) was awarded a concession, by the Government of Odisha, during 2004 to build and operate a port, at north of the mouth of the river Dhamra in Bhadrak district on BOOST (Build, Own, Operate, Share and Transfer) basis for a period of 34 years, including a 4-year construction period, extendible by two periods of 10 years each. DPCL was originally a 50:50% partnership between L&T and TATA. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) executed agreement to acquire the port from its existing owners in 2014.

Adani group delegated responsibility of project management consultancy to HOWE for the expansion of port from concept to commissioning. The broad scope of HOWE includes from planning, engineering, estimation, commercial aspects, quality, construction supervision at site etc.

Salient features:

  • Enhancing Import facility at jetty as well as back up yard
  • 23 Nos. (~ 9.5 km) of conveyor system, 19 Nos. of Transfer towers, approx. yard storage capacity of 13,50,000 MT)
  • Equipment: 5 Nos. of Stacker cum Reclaimer on 3 Nos. of bunds of approx. 2.5 km length
  • 3 Nos. of Grab type Ship Unloaders
  • 1 No. Wagon loading Silo with in motion wagon loading system
  • Construction of Berth No. 3
  • Related Civil, Electrical and Automation works
  • Utilities like roads, drains, FFS, DSS, substation buildings, pump house etc.
