Development Of Container Terminal (Ct-3) At Mundra

APSEZL is developing south basin, adjacent to existing multipurpose terminal–I at Mundra Gujarat. South basin is planned for containers, liquid, LNG, automobiles and bulk cargo. The basin will be developed into phased manner. South port has been operational since 2012. HOWE has worked as project management consultant for this project includes from planning, engineering, estimation, commercial aspects, equipment, quality, construction supervision, contract admin at site etc.

Salient features:

Infrastructure
  • Two deep draught container berths for handling a maximum up to 14,000 TEU vessels with total length of 810 m
  • 6.0 km long breakwater & total rock quantity – 3.0 million MT approx.
  • Artificially created basin is dredged up to depth of -17.5 m CD having turning circle of 700 m diameter and approach channel of 450 m length.
  • Total dredging volume – 35 million Cum
  • Backup area development
    • Container yard – 890 m x 475 m
    • Present yard has provision of 10,680 terminal ground slots (TGS) with adequate reefer handling capacity
  • Development of container railway yard & 5.5km of railway track from R&D yard to container yard (3 railway lines inside yard)
  • Supporting infrastructure & utilities

  • RMQCs – 6 nos. RMQC: 65m outreach with 22 across, 20m back-reach
  • E-RTGs layout 7+1: 26.5m span, 1 over 5 high with low bus bar system including spares.

  • Container terminal management systems (CTMS) to support the terminal’s 24 x 7 operations, provide real time visibility and operational
