Development Of Coal Handling Facility At Karaikal, (Phase-ii)

Client: Karaikal Port Private Limited (Kppl) / Marg Limited

Location: Tamilnadu, India

For Phase II development of the Karaikal port comprising of two coal berths, extension of the breakwaters, fully mechanized coal handling system and related onshore infrastructure, Karaikal Port Private Limited (KPPL) appointed M/s HOWE India Pvt Ltd. (HOWE) as consultants.

The services provided by HOWE are as follows:

• Development of alternatives for phase II & phase III considering due integration with existing phase I facilities.
• For selected scheme carried out Basic Engineering of port facilities.
• Detailed capital and operating cost estimate and construction schedule.
• Preparation of Detailed Project Report.
• Preparation of detailed engineering drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates for the following:
  • Two ship Unloaders
  • Two Stacker cum Reclaimers
  • Connected conveyor System
  • Two coal berths
  • Extension of Breakwaters
  • Capital Dredging
  • Wagon loading station
  • Electrical Power and Distribution System
  • Other onshore infrastructure and utilities
• Review and approval of the contractors submission of calculations, drawings, schedules, etc. to ensure compliance with the terms of tender and contracts.
• Compiling suppliers/manufacturers data and prepare overall operating and maintenance manuals including plants, equipment’s, infrastructure items etc.
• Preparation of necessary quality control and quality assurance manuals/quality check documents, etc., if not provided by the contractor/supplier/manufacturer.
