For the “Greenfield” Jawaharlal Nehru Port at Nhava Sheva, Mumbai, HOWE provided conceptual plans, project reports, model studies, detailed designs and specifications for all works/components, tendering as per World Bank norms, and complete project management. The $900 million project included dredging and reclamation, berths, computerised container and bulk material handling terminals, inland CFS’s, harbour craft, navigation aids, extensive infrastructure, roads, bridges, railways, and a complete township for 11,000 inhabitants.
HOWE were responsible for the design and project management of the staff housing project built by Towell Construction for the University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 45 buildings with 672 apartments, infrastructure including power generation, sewage treatment, irrigation, landscaping, HVAC, furnishings, and all other services and utilities were included. A precast concrete panel system and onsite factory (designed by HOWE) allowed completion in less than 18 months. HOWE managed the turn-key construction. |

The Visakhapatnam Outer Harbour was engineered and project managed by HOWE following extended site investigations and studies. The breakwaters are the longest in India, designed for cyclonic conditions. The ore export berths are for 200,000 DWT ships. The material handling system is rated at 8000 TPH. Included are a fishing harbour, sand by-passing, harbour craft, rail yards, navigation aids and all the related infrastructure facilities and services.

HOWE have also designed the container terminal and various other berths and specialized terminals in both the inner and outer harbours of the Visakhapatnam Port and carried out studies and reports for Clients in India and abroad. A recent detailed project report was to increase the capacity of the ore export, oil and coal import facilities in the Outer Harbour. Innovative engineering solutions by Howe abound in this Port. |

The Mormugao Port development project , engineered and managed entirely by HOWE included oil and ore berths for 100,000 DWT ships, dredging and reclamation works, barge unloading docks, bulk iron ore receiving and shipping systems, all ancillary and infrastructure facilities. The bulk ore terminal export capacity is over 12 million tonnes/year. |
